El Yunque
Beach Park
Nestled between the El Yunque rainforest, the Medio Mundo-Daguao reserve and the Caribbean Sea sits Guayacan Beach Park. Refreshed by the constant easterly winds, bathed by the tranquil Caribbean Sea, nourished by the creek coming down from the rainforest and criss corossing the Park, sits our unique heaven. No surprise why the Taino Indians chose this magical place as the main settlements to connect with the Lesser Antilles.
El Yunque was the mythological dwelling of Yúcahu, known as the deity of agriculture, as well as the zemi of peace and tranquility, he represented goodness. Yúcahu was believed to have a throne in El Yunque peak, the largest mountain found in the tropical El Yunque National Forest reserve, where he resided in the same manner that the Greek gods did in Mount Olympus.
The Medio Mundo-Daguao reserve is the most extensive Natural Protected Area under the Puerto Rico Conservation Trust management and contains the second largest mangrove forest in all the islands of Puerto Rico. Together with the terrestrial, coastal, transitional, estuarine and aquatic ecosystems found in this area, they provide habitats for some 26 species of rare, endemic, vulnerable and endangered species. Among those that have been documented, are the West Indian Manatee, the Yellow-shouldered Blackbird, the Puerto Rican Boa, and several species of sea turtles that depend on the area’s ecosystems.
At Guayacán Beach Park we strive to provide the best experience in outdoor recreational services, allowing our visitors to stay in a pleasant, familiar, multicultural and conserved environment where people can relax and enjoy the outdoors, the rainforest, the ocean, the Spanish Virgin Islands, the Cordillera Reef Reserve and beaches. We aim at doing so while caring for the natural resources and developing a safer way to interact with the precious natural resources at our disposal. The idea is to integrate tourism and outdoor recreation with sustainability and ecological advancement.
